Board Member Solicitation
2023-2024 Term Starting January 2023

Residents of Sunset Cove, as we wind down what has been an awesome Summer from a weather standpoint we are heading into the Fall and Winter seasons which offer a number of great recreational opportunities, the start of the new school year and the end of day-light savings time. The City of Anacortes continues to open up in our ever-changing health and wellness environment. Socially we’ve had success at a number of local events not the least of which have been our Summer concert series (ongoing through August), the Anacortes Arts Festival and our local Farmers Market (ongoing through October as its scheduled on the Chamber of Commerce calendar of events).  Restaurants, local businesses and street vendors have reported numbers rivalling pre-pandemic levels which is good to hear and see.

Along with all that goes on in our city and our neighborhood the Sunset Cove Board is focused on the tasks at hand. We are in the process of finalizing the development of an operations manual and calendar of Board activities making it easy to know “what to do when”. The contents held within serves as a guideline for future Board Members as they serve our community taking the guess work out of the Boards “to do list” and its timing; automation has also been baked into a number of the processes performed by the Board. The other task that our Board faces as we move into 2023 is replacing 3 retiring Board Members who will have served their elected terms.

The retiring Board Members have done an excellent job contributing to the success of our Sunset Cove Community and will be missed dearly. Board Members serve the community in a volunteer capacity in 2-year terms. Simply put, our HOA cannot function without volunteers. We have a number of current SCHOA Board Members serving on multiple neighborhood Boards which include Boards supporting The Crest Condo’s, The Garden’s Condo’s and our Doe Run detached condo’s. As reported at last January’s Annual Meeting several Board Members extended their terms to complete the operations manual and calendar mentioned above.

The 2023-2024 open Board positions are:

1. Vice President
2. Treasurer
3. Landscape Committee Chair

We want to ensure the right fit for all positions.
